Why Granada?

Because Granada is one of the most charming cities in Andalusia and all of Spain; a vibrant university town that combines tradition with modernity; a city infused with culture. For its infectious energy, its sounds and smells, its colours and light, its beautiful sunsets. Because it’s a welcoming and accessible city, where everything is within easy reach; it’s a joy to walk its streets, discovering the history hidden in its districts, squares and monuments. Because towering over it there are snow-capped mountains that descend to the sea.

In short, because it’s a city you have to experience. Would you like to discover it with us?

What does the Discover Granada through Spanish programme include?

Our Discover Granada through Spanish programme is aimed at people over 50 who want to immerse themselves in Spanish language and culture while meeting likeminded people from around the world. It combines language teaching with activities that will help you to discover Spain’s rich cultural heritage as well as the things that make the Spanish lifestyle special.

The course consists of three Spanish lessons per day from Monday to Friday (a total of 15 classes per week) plus afternoon and weekend activities. Classes are taught in small groups, with a maximum of 8 students, which ensures you will always get individual attention. All of our teachers are highly-qualified and have extensive experience of teaching Spanish as a foreign language.

i.d.e.a. has been teaching Spanish as a foreign language for over 15 years. It is centrally located in Realejo, one of Granada’s most emblematic districts. This gives you easy access to the most important sights, as well as to shops, restaurants and bars.

The school is small and friendly, with close contact between students, teachers and other staff. This ensures that you’ll always get individual attention, both in and out of class.

The school is modern, with spacious, air-conditioned classrooms. There is a park nearby where you can go for a stroll between classes or stop for a coffee at one of the lovely terrace bars.

I have had the pleasure of coming to Granada on several occasions to learn the Spanish language and have enjoyed studying at i.d.e.a each time. The teachers are professional, friendly, informative and above all, have great senses of humor. They help make learning a new language fun and interesting. Granada is a very safe, walkable city, large enough to have everything a bigger city might have, but small enough to keep the welcome feeling of friendliness and ease of getting around. Granada is the perfect place to learn the Spanish language and i.d.e.a. is the best school to start or enhance your journey in a new language and country. Enjoy time in Granada, visiting sights, eating well, and learning a new language with the help of great teachers at IDEA.

Matthias and Catherine Switzerland

We are a retired couple from Switzerland and we lived in Granada during 4 months in 2016. At i.d.e.a we found exactly what we were looking for: private Spanish lessons adapted to our beginners level and taught by professional and extremely competent teachers. Cristina and Ines really knew how to give us the desire to progress in Spanish because besides learning the essential vocabulary and grammar, they had us practise our conversational skills by tackling various aspects of Spanish life such as cultural, political, historical and social subjects. We would like to extend our gratitude to Cristina and Ines for the high quality of their teaching and the warm and friendly atmosphere of their school. We can highly recommend the i.d.e.a school.

i.d.e.a. is my first and only experience with a foreign language school. I recommend it without reservation. The teachers are highly skilled and adept at language instruction – while making it fun and enjoyable. I immediately felt a part of school community. Other students and the teachers went out of their way to introduce themselves and offer friendship. The city of Granada is very accessible and filled with interesting things to see and do. I’ve been a student at the school two times and intend to go again.
